Group Dynamics and Facilitation

Group Faciliation Sessions

Generally, all 3 group sessions were well managed. However, there are still some room for improvement in the process of facilitation. For instance, there was a hyperactive child in our group under the pseudonym of Joel. He was a challenge because he would push boundaries to test how far he could go. Once, he spoke at an inappropriate time when the session was ongoing. My team member who took lead responded by countering what he said, and unconsciously they ended up in a one-on-one conversation, while all the other children watched. This broke the flow of the session and got everyone distracted. From this, I learnt never to engage a child who talks back to you. Simply refer him back to the rules and take him out of the group should he continue disobeying.

Project Group Dynamics

My project group consists 7 people and we were interdependent because everyone played a different role. I love my group dynamics and how each member complements the rest with our various strengths. Despite personal differences, we worked well together. There was no instance where we found ourselves in a conflict because all 6 team members fall under accommodating or collaborating conflict management styles. Everyone is highly cooperative, with some more assertive than others. My team was also able to reach the performing and adjourning stages of group development - we aced almost every module and are all proud to be in this group. Truly the best project team I have been in thus far!
